Founded by Alexandra Blue, the company has a strong track record with award-winning short films, with a feature film and television development slate backed by top financiers and funding bodies. Bluebird produces films that tell distinctive stories, take creative risks and challenge audiences.

Alexandra is an award-winning creative producer with a talent lead approach. She was selected for the BFI’s flagship Insight emerging producer programme, supporting the next generation of UK producers bringing original feature films to the screen, and was selected as a Film London Lodestar in 2021.

Alexandra's feature slate includes projects in development with the Netflix, BFI and Creative UK. On the television side, Alexandra is co-developing series with Eleven (Sex Education) and Various Artists Limited (I May Destroy You).

Alexandra’s shorts include End-O directed by Alice Seabright, Martha, funded by BFI Network; Cinderella Games, an original dance film commissioned by the English National Ballet, Holy Cannelloni (a Creative England and BFI funded pilot for feature film Pizza Face), and Welcome to Iron Knob (winner of Short Film of the Decade at the Australian Academy Awards).

Alexandra has been mentored by some of the top production companies worldwide, including a Screen Australia Talent Escalator placement with Element Pictures (Normal People, The Lobster, Room) and a six-month Producer placement with Warp Films (This is England, '71, Four Lions). Alexandra also worked as a Development Executive at Heyday Films/Heyday TV for Producer David Heyman (Harry Potter, Gravity, Paddington) until 2017. Most recently she worked as a Development Producer for Eleven with her own slate.

Alexandra’s other accolades include Emerging Producer of the Year (SASA 2014), Best Emerging Filmmaker (Shorts Film Festival 2013) and a nomination for Best Short Film at the Australian Academy Awards (AACTA's 2015). Alexandra's short films have been Oscar Long Listed, and received international acclaim at festivals such as the BFI London Film Festival, Clermont Ferrand, Aesthetica, Underwire, Raindance, Palm Springs, and Sydney.
